Harley Davidson's with early Keihin and Mikuni carbs had the same type of problem. Nothing new. Engine vacuum has a place, just not operating petcocks or carbs. Mechanical petcocks and throttle butterflies are infinitely more reliable. The vacuum parts don't leak as much, but they sure don't work as well. Wonder if vacuum operated fuel sysytem parts will ever come out of the dark ages of late 70's Japanese engineering?
